I’m not sure what the 35 Japanese girls were expecting when they got off the coach bus on Sunday in North Bay, Ontario…but I’m sure it wasn’t 1.5 feet of snow in 3 hours. As I watched them shrink instantly back into their cute, puffy, and sadly inadequate parkas, I wondered what it would be like not never carry extra socks in your purse, or own snow pants in your 30s. The next morning was worse, as our exchange student was greeted with a -36 degree slap to the face as she headed for the first day of school. Welcome to Canada – where it is so cold it hurts to breathe. Like Olaf, we like warm hugs…because we are basically snow men 6 months of the year!
